Scene 5 complete

The main character punches tetris blocks then is sent flying by exploding tetris blocks (what's the point in trying to describe things to people who don't seem to be there). Starting next week this blog will be moved to Newgrounds.

Scene 4 Complete

The main character presses a button on his remote and zaps himself into the TV. In the first screen he's got a chef's uniform on and is holding a clever in one hand and a chicken in the other. In the next screen he's smashing the buzzer on his decorated podium, like the ones in front of the shark in the business suit to his right and the old guy with the pyramid hat on his left. In the last screen he's got a detonator in his left hand and a mushroom cloud in the background. He's flanked by a guy with an egg with a face markered on it for a head and an orange cat guy with a black barret.

I find that tying to squeeze too much action into a small amount of time seems to be a problem for me. I had to scrap most of the screens because it was too busy. Hopefully I can resolve the problem in the future.

Still Working On Scene 4

I procrastinated quite a bit this week. I have the part where the character presses the button on the remote, the smoke that rises and the blast residue. The rest of the scene requires 7 screen clips and I'm on the second. Tomorrow's a holiday so I should be able to get some work done then.

Scene 3/9 Complete

The main character appears in a kitchen behind a giant coffee mug. He throws a plasma container in from the left, a car battery in from the right then pops up behind the mug again to drop in a scoop of ice cream.

Scene 2/9 Complete

The main character uproots a lemon tree and proceeds to devour it. The whole process takes place in slightly over 3 seconds.

Scene 1/9 Complete

It begins with a blue, cloudless sky. Wind howls as the screen pans down to a stage with mountains in the background. On the stage is the main character with his hands folded behind his back and flanked by two fans. He closes his eyes, takes a deep breath through his nose, and spreads his arms. He abruptly launches into a noisy "hardstyle" tune while waving his arms frantically. As his mouth moves his sharp white teeth show.

All Backdrops Completed, Now Working on Moving Parts.

I finally have my backgrounds completed (except for the integration). Now I can start work the actual animation bit. I've already completed the head for the main character and should be making everything else scene by scene (which includes background objects and the body). I get the sense that nobody is watching this blog so I won't bother with posting the pictures until I get a comment which will show me that people are seeing this blog (a simple "lol" will do).

Background 6/8 and 7/8 completed

The first background is in pieces and needs to stay that way as the scene involves flying up, falling down and crashing into the treetops. The second is a continuous image you may expect to find in side-scrollers.

I've still got a way to go yet. Needless to say, once I get all the backgrounds done it will be time to make the objects and put it all together.

Backdrop 3/7 Completed

I lost quite a bit of time playing "Tyrain 2000". Even so, I think this will serve my purposes just fine (it will only be up for 3.1 seconds). Try and guess what will happen here.

Backdrop 2/7 completed

As for what I'm working on, it will be revealed as I complete it (because surprises are nice). What I will tell you is that it will be all home made pixel-art, like a video game. This will be unlike sprite flashes (or cartoons made with characters ripped from videogames) in that I will be drawing everything myself and using characters that are either my own or are obscure references like Vinnie Puh(giving credit, of course). I've been working on this earlier so I have some done.

This week I finished backdrop 2/7. Personally, I think "not bad" describes it well (not particularly good but not bad). It will only be seen for about 3.1 seconds anyway. Hopefully, with practice, my pixel-art will improve.

Introduction

Greetings, I am an animator. I use Sothink SWF Quicker to make cartoons for the internet in my free time (said cartoons will be listed below). Unfortunately, with access to the internet (and after installing that stumble button) I have difficulty focusing on my work so my progress moves along at a snail's pace. This is where my Blog comes in. Every Sunday I will be giving a report on how much work I've done on my animation. I doing so I will keep myself accountable for any lack of work hence "encouraging" myself to do more work.
